congatec presents ultra compact embedded Qseven Starter Kit for industrial automation

Nuremberg, Germany, SPS/IPC/DRIVES, November 23, 2010   * * * congatec AG, a leading manufacturer of embedded computer modules, presents the first Qseven Starter Kit for automation. Low power consumption makes the Qseven an ideal platform for building small computer units and terminals within the automation industry. To accelerate the development of such applications, congatec has introduced the Qseven Mobility Kit as a complete design solution.

In addition to low power consumption and a small footprint, most automation applications require a 24 volt power supply. The congatec Qseven Mobility Kit is designed for a voltage range of 12 to 32 volts. Thanks to the battery manager and smart battery, the supply voltage can be kept constant over long periods of time in spite of any voltage dips or power outages. The kit comes with a 5.7" TFT display with touch screen, which provides a simple human-machine interface.

The Qseven mini carrier board included in the kit is easy to integrate since it measures only 95x140 mm and provides various interfaces. In addition to 6 USB ports and an Ethernet connection, LVDS and DVI display interfaces are also provided. The mini carrier board offers additional standard interfaces such as a Mini PCI Express slot for WLAN expansion and a high definition audio interface. Mass storage choices include a solid state disk, which is integrated onboard the Qseven CPU module or SATA and SD card interfaces on the carrier board itself.

Designers can now build a powerful, fanless industrial PC in just a few easy steps. When equipped with the new conga-QA6 featuring the Intel® Atom™ processor E600/T series combined with the Intel® EG20/T platform controller hub, a substantial increase in graphics performance over previous Intel® Atom™ solutions can be achieved.

The Qseven Mobility Kit comes with long life support and can be used universally. It is particularly ideal for space-saving designs such as maintenance-free rack-mount PCs or specific box PCs with small mounting surfaces that are used for measurement and control, human machine interface and communication tasks.
