congatec AG celebrates 5th anniversary

German manufacturer of COM Express, XTX, ETX and Qseven Computer-On-Modules was launched on the 1st of January, 2005

Deggendorf, December 16, 2009 * * * congatec AG, a leading manufacturer of embedded computer modules, will be celebrating its fifth anniversary on the 1st of January, 2010. It was founded by 13 former Jumptec employees on January 1st, 2005. From the outset the company has been focused on developing Computer-On-Modules (COMs) in various form factors.

congatec was instrumental in the development of the XTX standard and continues to be actively involved in the XTX Consortium. congatec has also been a driving force behind the establishment of COM Express. In addition to the development of a common design guide within the PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group, Inc.), congatec plays an active role as editor in advancing this important specification.

The next mile stone in the company’s success story was Qseven, which it introduced last year together with partners SECO and MSC. The congatec founded Qseven consortium now has a membership of more than 30 different companies that are responsible for maintaining and enhancing the specification.
congatec posted record sales of 27 million Euro in 2008. Meanwhile, the company has grown to 77 employees and has opened subsidiaries in Taiwan, the Czech Republic and USA. To provide global coverage congatec also works with a network of international sales and solution partners.

congatec received funding from Technofonds Bayern (The Bavarian Technology Fund) of Bayern Kapital GmbH (Bavaria Capital), which injected an additional one million Euro investment into the business earlier this year. Despite the economic crisis new order bookings for 2009 were at record levels. The company is expecting to close the current fiscal year with a similar turnover as the previous year.

Gerhard Edi, CEO of congatec, notes: "In retrospect, these first five years have been extremely successful. Thanks to our highly qualified and motivated staff, and our extensive range of modules, we feel fully prepared for the future."
